Everyday Is Like Sunday

I really don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day but today I received such a great lil message in my Sweet Leaf Sweet Tea cap and I thought it was so fitting and very cute.   I think Valentine’s Day is definitely for the consumers, its a reason for those to give and receive presents and great for companies to make money.  I am definitely not hating on it because I love giving my loved ones lil thoughtful gifts like homemade cookies or lil valentine’s day cards.  I just don’t go overboard and I don’t expect flowers or anything from my hubby.   We don’t go out to eat and partake in the craziness out there either.  Do you celebrate Heart Day?  And if so, what do you do?

I have my lil Gizmo holding the cap.  Isn’t he the cutest?!?!  Thought I would share.

Oh and this year V-day and Lunar New Years fall on the same day!  So Sunday I will be celebrating Lunar New Years with family and friends.

And as we say in my native tongue…. Chuc Mung Nam Moi!  (Happy New Years!)  May the Year of the Tiger bring you prosperity and happiness!

On another note, I have been sooooo busy I haven’t had a chance to catch up or really read any of my favorite blogs!  I am going to stop by a few today.  Can’t wait to see what I will read and see!

AND!!!  I bought some new shoes… I shouldn’t have but I had to!  I got such a great deal on them and I ‘needed’ them so bad!  And no I haven’t had the nerves to buy the CL’s yet…

Since they are platforms they are not that bad all to wear.  I rocked them one night and went dancing in them.  Not too shabby and since I am 4’11, I felt TALL!  (for once in my life)

Shoes are from Aldo. Click here to see them.

Yesterday and Today I went to Plato’s Closet and sold some of mine and my sister’s old clothes and shoes and I made $100!!!! YAY!  For more information about this store, click here.  Going to head to some other consignment shops to sell work attire like clothing.  I hope to make a lil more extra cash from my gently worn clothes.

Cheers!

walking on sunshine…

Just returned on Monday from a long weekend away to San Francisco.  It was nice getaway but I surely could have done without the rain and coldness. and my hubby got sick during the trip.  the cold and wet weather didn’t do him any good.  poor thing…

AND also my Nikon D50 decides to crap out on me.  I am pretty sure its something I did to mess it up.  The shutter isn’t releasing so it won’t take any photos.  So I had to use my point and shot the entire trip and I am not a big fan of my point and shoot, especially not photos if its not nice and sunny out.  The pictures do not look that great… UGH darn to user failure!  major FAIL!

Anyhow, here are a few pictures from the trip.  Again, please disregard the poor photo quality...

That basically sums it all up.  I did get to do a lil bit of shopping.  Went to the Marc Jacobs and H&M.  Which were the only two stores I really cared to go.

If you have the time…

I <3 SF!

Going to the bay for a few days!  This time I am going with the hubby and he has never been!  So I plan on doing all the touristy things there with him.  Its just something you have to do once in your life.   And my wonderful sis is going too!  Its going to be so much fun!!!!

This is a photo from my last visit last March and the bday girl is bending over, not sure what she was doing!?!?!

 DSC_0085

And here are pics of the girls working their way up…. they are just so cute!  just reminiscing…

Now I have to pack tonight… going to only bring 2 pairs of shoes (one for going out and one for walking around).  I have decided that we are going out only Saturday night.  Friday is going to be walking around to a coffee shop or something.  So my plan is to wear my moto boots for walking around and my black patent mary jane pumps to wear with my outfit for the bday girls party.  its going to be a challenge to get cute outfits to work with just around 2 pairs of shoes… I dont want to check in.  Just a small carry-on to fit all I need.

Our plans:

  • eat ramen/udon in Japan Town
  • Vintage shop on Haight/Ashbury (any other suggestions for vintage shopping in SF?)
  • Union Square
  • Fisherman’s Wharf
  • Golden Gate Bridge
  • Alcatraz
  • Ride the Cable car
  • Walk Lombard St (or at least try to…)
  • Chinatown
  • MOMA
  • Check out the Cliff House

What else?  Any suggestions??? I know I am trying to jam all this in 3 days.

The main reason why I am going there is for my dear friend, Linh; to celebrate her dirty thirty bday.  And its going to be a themed celebration as well!  And as you all know I LOVE themes.  The theme is Alice in Wonderland.  And the bday girl will be Alice.  and I have an outfit that sorta resembles the Queen of Hearts.  Although I do need to get a crown and a wand of some sort to complete my costume.

Happy weekend to me!  I hope everyone has a good Friday and Weekend as well.  I’ll be back on Tuesday!

And I also want to thank Vivian at www.diamondsandtulle.blogspot.com for being my first customer!  Your harness necklace is going in the mail today during my lunch break!  Woohoo!!!!

Wishes do come true

I have finally taken the plunge to open up an Etsy shop.  Visit me here and save me as your favorite!!  If there is something that you want but is not in my store, please send me a photo or a detailed description of it and I will let you know whether I can make it or not.  If I can, I will give you a quote.

Pictures were taken at a collaboration shoot with Issa at WeWearThings and TramAnh at Phi-Style.  They had a great idea for their collaboration shoot using leather as their theme.   I feel very honored to be working with these two wonderful fashion bloggers, they both wore pieces of my jewelry that I made (which are all in my Etsy shop).  I can’t tell you enough how sweet these two beautiful ladies are.  I hope in the future I will be able to work with them more; whether it’s to make jewelry for their photoshoots or even doing a photoshoot with them!

Many thanks to Studio Dru for the fabulous photos!  You can see more of his work here.  His photography skills definitely make me want to pick up my camera more often and practice.  He puts my photography skills to shame.

DIY: Chandelier Update

SORRY GUYS I JUST REALIZED I PUT THE INCORRECT LINK FOR THE FLOR CARPET TILES.  You can purchase them from http://www.flor.com/ not from SteinMart.  OOPS!

Remember sometime last year like in August I had mentioned redoing my chandelier in my dining room?

Well its been complete for a couple of months now but I have been lagging on posting pictures

I used Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Textured Spray Paint in black (can be bought at any hardware store like Lowe’s or Home Depot).  I can’t remember how much it was.  But I believe it was like $11.49 for the can.

First I covered each “candle-light” with newspaper and then pulled the wires through the chain and covered the chains with newspaper.

Then, I sprayed the entire chandelier with the spray paint.  Make sure to follow the directions on the bottle.  Let dry for a day to ensure its completely dried.

*Tip* Use a Shepherd's hook for your hanging potted plants to hang your chandelier so that you can get around the entire chandelier without touching it.

AFTER

Bought the chandelier shades from Stein Mart.  I was very surprised that they had such cute and CHEAP chandelier shades.  I have been drooling over the ones at Pottery Barn but refused to pay the price.  But at Stein Mart these were for $3.95 EACH!  Compared to Pottery Barn or similar competitors, they have it for over $10 bucks.

It makes a whole lot of difference right???  I can’t believe what it looked like before… For less than $60 bucks I was able to update my dining room.  Instead of purchasing a new chandelier which would have cost more than $150 bucks.

AND here’s a picture of my new carpet in the dining room.  Please don’t mind the empty apothecary jars (I am trying to figure out what to fill it up with since I took down all my christmas decor).  And the dining room is definitely a work in progress.  Will definitely take me awhile to get it all done.  But slowly but surely!!!!

The carpet is the FLOR Modular Carpet Tiles.  You can get it from here.

So what do ya think?

O and I have been drooling over these shoes for a LONG time now.  I need a pair of plain black pumps, its a staple item which I don’t own at all.  But I have never purchased any pair of shoes for over $100 because I have let myself believe that I don’t need them, but these are so beautiful and non of the knock-offs are good enough… They just don’t look the same… *sigh*

Should I get them????  These babies are $625 at Saks.

J’adore…
