Overwhelmed

Sorry for the lack of posts this past week and this week.  I have good things to come but I have been seriously overwhelmed.  Not to mention the wedding photographer is stressing me out.  She is now calling and emailing me non-stop and I can’t get any work done!!!  I told her that I wanted to stab myself in the eye because I am so frustrated with them.  I am funny, I know.

I’ll be back soon when things settle down.

This is how I feel right now…

Looking back

195001203_dcmBP-O

Married for a lil over 2 years ago and guess what?  I have yet to receive our wedding album.  That’s right ladies… No album.  I have been dealing with the photographers and even involved a lawyer.  Only after I wrote a negative review on weddingwire.com a few days ago did they find the need to apologize and are NOW working with me to make me happy.  I should have written this review long ago!  Its funny how things work right?  To make a long story short, they gave me 20+ excuses on why they weren’t able to deliver.  Not once did they call and update me on the status.  I had to contact them but when I did I was considered to be harassing them.  But I only called them once every 4 months and they were never angry calls.  Just simple, hi, how are you?  whats the update?

If you or someone you know lives in Houston, TX or Baton Rouge, LA area DO NOT BOOK Aimeezing Faces for your photography needs.  They are a bunch of frauds!  I could have done a better job with my Nikon D50.

I am at the moment speaking with them and have been for the past 2 hours.  They REALLY want to work things out to make me happy and take back my review.  FAT CHANCE!

Ok I am done venting.

GOOD NIGHT BLOG WORLD!

Frame It!

Another Simple DIY
Transformed and old picture frame (circa 1990) into an earring hanger.
First I took out the backing and glass.

Then used craft glue to adhere the ribbon to the frame.  Added grommets to easily hang earrings or to place studs.  In the picture below I only did one set of the grommets but there are more there.

Jeepers Creepers

Some of my friends find me morbid that I made a little coffin.  But its novelty, not real.  Its just for Halloween.  Nothing morbid about that…  Anyways, here’s the coffin and two headstones (the headstones were actually part of the first 2 coffins that didn’t work out so I didn’t waste it).

I used chalk to write on the headstones.  See how wonderful I am at drawing?!  Not really… I need to redo that drawing.  Used scrap wood and white fabric.  The skeleton was something I bought 4 years ago and I use to hang it on my front door.

I am going to leave these in the front yard under the large tree.  I am not going to put it out there until Friday since its been raining on and off.  Houston weather… its sunny one minute and cold and rainy the next…

That’s it for my DIY Halloween decor.  I hope you gals (and guys) have enjoyed!

Spooky Wooky

I first saw the Spooky Tree at Copy Cat Chic and the same day I went to Target to take a look at it.  I immediately knew that I was going to make something very similar to it for Halloween.
Here’s Target’s version:

Here’s my version:

I was working so diligently that I didn’t take any pictures of my process.
Here’s one pic of me painting the branch and you see that I am using the headstones to paint on (I will post the headstones tomorrow)
DSC_0647
  • I picked a branch from my tree in the front yard and plucked off all the leaves.
  • And luckily for the miter saw that my hubby has we were able to cut the wood and used small wood nails to nail it together.  And the two layers are pieced together using Elmer’s Carpenter Wood Glue.  I used C-clamps to hold it together as it dried for 30 minutes.
    • Bottom Layer is 5x5 inches
    • Top Layer is 4x4 inches

  • Then I inserted 3.5x3.5  and 2.5x2.5 in styrofoam inside the vase.  Used a nail to make a hole large enough to stick the tree branch in.
  • Used black semi-gloss latex paint from sherwin william’s which I painted all over.  Waited for it to dry a bit then I put some craft glue to the base of the tree and on top of the styrofoam.  Then started to stack the pebbles on top.  Continued until I was satisfied of the coverage.  I then painted the pebbles black as well.
Voila! Now I have a spooky tree!
Next… Halloween Coffin!

I love costume parties!

So Halloween is a week away and I have yet to decide what I want to be for Hallows’ Eve.  It is my most favorite holiday!
I have already been Lara Croft, Sailor, Krispy Kreme worker, Courageous Lion from Wizard of Oz, Roller Girl, Dark Angel, Madonna, Bunny, Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Robin from Batman & Robin, Greek Goddess, gangster, cowgirl, and many many more!!!  Theme parties; I have done 70s roller skater, the Lions’ Roar lady from Kung Fu Hussle (movie), 80s prom, Japanese School Girl and etc!
Did I mention I love costume/theme parties?
I have a few other costumes at home that I have yet used but I really want to do something different this year.  Maybe a Harajuku Girl?  Amy Winehouse  or Lady GaGa in a Wonder Woman unitard? or a mixture of them all?  This should be interesting!
The good thing about being petite or short as a hobbit is that no matter what outfit I wear that is normally short for regular people it doesn’t look too trampy on me.  I end up only showing like 4 inches of skin.  Its sorta hilarious if I think of it.  That’s the only good thing about being 4’11.
So what do you all think I should be?
Maybe I can wear my black wings again with my costume!!!!  Black wings are shown in picture below.

Facing Forward, Looking Back

Here’s a fact about me…

In college I joined a sorority.  Sigma Phi Omega.  It was more of a service sorority rather than a social sorority which I totally loved only because I love helping people and doing volunteer work.

Anyhow, a friend of mine from the sorority is producing a documentary.  It’s about the founding members of Sigma Phi Omega. Facing Forward, Looking Back, is a story of overcoming adversity and the struggles of returning to a normal way of life in America for the Japanese-American post-Pearl Harbor. A little more than sixty years ago, 110,000 Japanese-Americans were stripped of their freedom and were displaced to concentration camps in the most remote regions of the United States as a result of heightened paranoia after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Because of their ambition and perseverance, many Asian Americans enjoy the freedoms and liberties that is consistent with the American way of life as we know it today. The struggles of their predecessors encouraged individuals like the founding mothers of Sigma Phi Omega to forge a path not only for the Japanese-American woman but to build a presence of the Asian-American in the United States.

She threw a film fundraiser last night at Union Bar in Houston.  It was a success and considering it was a weekday there was good turn out.  I sure hope she raised a good amount of money.  They also had raffle tickets for goodies like personal training certificates and restaurant gift certificates.  I won a gift card to Koto Sushi.  YAY!

I want to give her a shout out.  Go MARIA!!!!  She has started up her own production company in L.A called West Mall Productions.   I wish her all the best of luck.

Here’s a picture of Maria and I at Union Bar
